A Message from Jan

Head shot of Jan Wells

I was raised in a Christian home and professed my faith in Christ when I was twelve years old. Soon after my conversion, I decided to be a school teacher. I graduated from college, earned my teaching credential, and taught public school in San Francisco for nine years. Within the body of Christ, God has allowed me to continue in the role of teacher, and my most satisfying experience has been the teaching of God’s word.

God has entrusted me to minister and serve in many ways. I have been studying the Bible inductively for twenty-one years and have been writing and teaching inductive Bible studies for fifteen years. God has blessed my teaching ministry to expand to women representing many churches in the area. The Lord has led so that the studies are available on a wider basis and being used around the world.I have also been blessed to speak and teach at conferences, encouraging others as they study, being equipped to disciple others in their faith. My passion is to diligently study the word of God and I cherish my time in God’s holy Scriptures. I’ve been so blessed by the Lord’s leading as I minister in the body of Christ.

I had dreamed for years about taking courses at a Bible college, and God helped me fulfill that dream when I graduated with a Master of Arts in Christian Ministry from Simpson University. I am now continuing my studies as part of the Ph.D. program at Gateway Seminary in Biblical Studies with a focus on the New Testament. My desire is to be better equipped and to become more effective in serving our Lord. I continue to trust God with whatever He has for me. I want to be faithful to the Lord’s leading and obedient to His word. As I serve in the body of Christ, I will continue to claim the Latin phrase, “Sola Deo Gloria,” to God alone be the glory. My desire is that the Bible studies that I write will equip others as they spend time in God’s word, as we join together as God’s fellow workers (sunergos) for the gospel.

I have been married for forty five years, and my husband is serving alongside our son-in-law as a pastor-elder with Soma Church Community in Santa Rosa, CA.  Our two children live nearby and we have four wonderful grandchildren!
